Bartica Regatta Origin
Wilton Angoy upon taking up duty in Bartica in July ,1947 described the emergence of "Boat Race". He stated that in July, 1947 a yacht that had crossed the Atlantic called at Bartica with a fast runabout powered by a 22 horse power outboard engine. The owner of the yacht used to enjoyed fast run on the smooth lake - like Essequibo River, much to the delight of the public.

Finding a place to stay can sometimes be difficult .Hotel bookings are
filled very early in the year.
