Bartica is a beautiful village located on the left bank of the Essequibo river at the confluence
,Mazaruni and Cuyuni River it's the gateway to the interior region of Guyana.
- Cuyuni River
- It is the heart of the gold and diamond mining, and timber extraction.
- Mazaruni River / Potaro District
- The central Mazaruni Potaro region boast the picturesque
Maipuri and Kaieteur water falls; its yields precious diamond ; and the forest echo with the calls of the green heart birds .
- The Essequibo River/County
- The Essequibo County extend over 61000 square miles from the vast Rupununi cattle ranching district in the south to the gold , manganese and timber area and the growing land settlement in the north .
Westward it takes in the beautiful mountain ranges of the Kanaku and the Pakariama, the mighty Roraima itself and the Amuku lake said to be the sight of the legendary golden city of Manaos.
On the north east lies the Essequibo coast and island .
- Bartica
An Amerindian word meaning RED EARTH a name naturallly suggested from the colour of the soil in the area.
Historically , Bartica has developed from an Anglican missionary settlement in 1842 to the busy town it is today .
Bartica has a rich history as well as dynamic and diverse populace .
Its population consists of a harmonious mix of people from six different ethnic
groups,namely African,East Indian ,Amerindian ,Mixed Races , Chinese and European descent.
The central town of Bartica is about one square mile, it has seven Avenues and nine Streets .
The Avenues run North to South and the Streets East to West.
